Methven Community
Our Lady of the Snows is located in the Mid-Canterbury township of Methven. Just a short hop from the Southern Alps and surrounded by intensive farm land with crop, dairy and livestock farms.
Methven has become the gateway to Mt Hutt ski area and the town population swells during the winter months with visitors from all over New Zealand and the world.
Other outdoor activities include golf at Methven Golf Club or the Terrace Downs golf resort, jet boating on the Rakaia River, fishing, heli-skiing, hot air ballooning, skydiving, mountain biking, tramping and much more.
Methven is only 60 minutes from Christchurch and 25minutes from Ashburton. The township caters for a permanent growing population of approximately 1500 and is the centre of a large farming community. The town has a wide range of shops that cater for the skiing community and the locals. Methven has two preschools and a playcentre, plunket rooms and a medical centre with doctors, a physiotherapist and a dentist.
